Timeless Style.

Timeless Style with Beth Birkett Gibbs. To help reintroduce a capsule of vintage Adidas footwear silhouettes in 2018, we set out to identify people in the design and fashion fields to help us explore the idea of what “classic” means to them.

As part of this effort, we visited multi-faceted designer, stylist, and artist Beth Birkett Gibbs in Los Angeles. Beth splits her time as an in-demand stylist, a creative director at Union LA, and working on her own label, Bephie. We chatted with her about authenticity, the importance of highlighting, supporting, and collaborating with creative people of color in her community, and having that indescribable style and confidence that could be defined as classic.

The film we made with Beth ran on i-D Magazine online and on Bephie and adidas social. To culminate our project with Beth, She curated a photo and art exhibit at Band of Vices featuring imagery shot by her friend Onye Anyanwu, featuring POC women from her creative community in Los Angeles.

Reimagining the Familiar.

“Creating a Classic” campaign to a frigid Chicago in December, we visited with designer, entrepreneur, and artist Benjamin Gott. Ben authored the pivotal early-internet editorial blog The Brilliance with fellow Chicago creatives Chuck Anderson and Virgil Abloh in the early 2010’s, and later helped found The Boxed Water Company, Th-oughts, and Benjamin Edgar, An Object Company.

We talked with Ben about his creative inspirations and practices, focussing on what makes him see objects as classic in design—a theme that echoes across his work, which deeply considers everyday objects and elevates them through material execution and visual story.

To culminate our project with Ben, we helped him put on an object design exhibition in Chicago in early February. There, he reimagined his iconic white marble hanger in a number of new materials, from clear acrylic to carbon fiber and foamed aluminum, alongside the Adidas AR Trainer.

Creating a classic.

To help reintroduce a capsule of vintage adidas footwear silhouettes in 2018, we set out to identify people in the design and fashion fields to help us explore the idea of what “classic” means to them.

We sat down with the people behind Kinfolk to discuss their business, the community of people that have formed around it, and what they think about things that are considered classics that withstand the test of time.

The short film we created lived for a time on i-D magainze online, and on adidas Originals social channels.

To culminate this collaboration, we helped Kinfolk host an indigo dyeing workshop on a rainy January weekend, where friends & family were gifted SC Premiers and t-shirts to customize.
